Ship hull management
With PROTIDE, ports can continuously optimize safety and performance through advanced under keel clearance calculations. A key aspect of these calculations is the precise representation of a vessel’s physical shape: its hull.
We introduce a new option that enables users to manage and visualize ship hulls directly from the web interface. Users can now import .hul files along with a corresponding Hulls.xml file that describes the contents. Hulls can be activated or deactivated for operational use and reviewed interactively.
This marks a significant transition from using a fixed hull database to individually configured hulls that can be checked and selected for each use case. It ensures that the appropriate hull is used in every calculation. The selected hull is automatically scaled to the exact dimensions of a given transit, enabling greater accuracy in dynamic keel clearance, squat, and bottom contact analysis.
The hull management module is available from PROTIDE v8.9 onwards.
